What does the Euro symbol (€) mean?

Euro symbol

The € symbol refers to the Latin letter "E", in reference to the word Euro. This, in turn, refers to Europe.

It is also common to associate the symbol with the Greek letter epsilon (ε), as Greece would have been the first great civilization to appear on the European continent. Thus, the Euro symbol would serve as a kind of homage to the ancient Greek civilization.

Unlike the vowel E and the epsilon, which has only one dash in the center, a second has been added to the € symbol, such as

sign of balance and stability.
