Community it is a feminine noun used in different senses. It is a local group, of variable size, made up of people who occupy a geographically defined territory and are united by the same cultural and historical heritage.
Generally, community is defined as a constitutive unit of a larger society, but societies Tribals, which can be considered prototypes of communities, often represent self-sufficient and sovereigns.
Communities vary in size and organization, comprising quite different types, being a village or a large city. Between these two extremes, there is a large number of intermediate communities, where all of them have qualities commons: the defined habitat and social institutions sufficiently developed to meet the needs of the population.
Community is a grouping of people who live within the same geographic, rural or urban area, united by common interests and who participate in the general conditions of life.
The term community is still used to designate a very intimate form of association, a highly integrated group in which members are linked to one another by bonds of sympathy. In this sense, any group can constitute a community, for example, communities that live under the same religious belief.
Comunidade is the new name used to designate some Brazilian favelas, after the urbanization policy they see going through.
