Repercussion consists of consequence or effect of a certain action or situation. It represents that which arises from something, reflecting that thing and propagating it.

The word repercussion can also be used in its figurative sense as the influence something arouses over other things. In this case, it represents the impact and importance it had in a certain place or among members of a certain group, for example.

Example:"The Harry Potter franchise had a huge repercussion among fans in Brazil."

When it is said that certain news had a international repercussion, for example, means that it has reached global proportions, being disseminated across the planet and, consequently, creating international responses on the subject.

Repercussion can also be related to the reverberation that a sound makes in an environment, that is, its echo.
