NGOs is the acronym for Non-Governmental Organizations, which are institutions created without help or ties with the government, usually from social background and non-profit.
NGOs are characterized by actions of solidarity in public policies and by the legitimate exercise of political pressures in favor of populations excluded from the conditions of citizenship, or also for the rights of animals. NGOs are part of the call third sector of the Economy.
The emergence of these organizations was due to the inefficiency of Governments and public authorities in general, to meet all the needs of society. These organizations are important alternatives to systematize society as a whole, as they promote social, cultural, assistance actions, etc.
NGOs are part of social movements and their principle is human development and the expansion of participation in citizenship. They have a great diversity, mainly thematic, ranging from the entities linked to the environment and feminist groups, even organizations dedicated to the protection of children and the adolescent.
