Dysrhythmia is any change in heart rate and/or heart rate due to disturbances in the formation and/or conduction of the electrical impulse in the heart. The diagnosis of dysrhythmia is made by analyzing the tracing of the electrocardiogram.

Types of Dysrhythmias

Dysrhythmias are named according to the place of origin of the impulse and the formation or conduction mechanism involved:

  • Sinus Nodule Dysrhythmias: Sinus Bradycardia, Sinus Tachycardia, Sinus Arrhythmia;
  • Atrial Dysrhythmias: Premature Atrial Complex, Atrial Flutter, Atrial Fibrillation
  • Junctional Dysrhythmias: Premature Junctional Complex, Junctional Rhythm;
  • Ventricular Dysrhythmias: Premature Ventricular Complex, Ventricular Tachycardia, Ventricular Fibrillation, Idioventricular Rhythm, Ventricular Asystole.

The recognition and proper treatment of cardiac dysrhythmias is very important, as they can precipitate or worsen thecardiac insufficiency and the coronary insufficiency, reduce the cerebral blood flow, besides being the main cause ofsudden death, especially in the acute phase of myocardial infarction.

Dysrhythmia Treatment

The treatment of dysrhythmia depends on the type of disorder (acute or chronic), on the etiology, among other factors. can be treated with medicines or external electrical therapy.

The most common auxiliary mechanical therapies are pacemakers, cardioversion, elective defibrillation, and implantable devices.

Surgeries can also be a treatment option, although less common.

Cerebral Dysrhythmia

cerebral dysrhythmia, in medical terms, does not define any disease, although the term is popularly used, most of the time, to refer to the epilepsy.
