Meaning of Morbimortality (What it is, Concept and Definition)

Morbimortality is a medical concept that refers to index of people killed as a result of a specific disease within a given population group.

The formation of the concept of morbidity and mortality consists of relationship between morbidity and mortality, with the first referring to the number of individuals with a certain disease in relation to the total population analyzed. Mortality, on the other hand, is the statistic about the people killed in a specific group.

Thus, morbidity and mortality observes the number of individuals who died as a result of an illness, in relation to the number of inhabitants of a given place and period of time.

For example, when analyzing the causes of death of 100 individuals who belong to a certain location, if 80 of these deaths has been due to dengue, then it can be concluded that the morbidity and mortality rate of dengue is 80% in this environment.
