Integration is a feminine noun with Latin origin integrate, which means the act or effect of integrating or make whole. Integration is also synonymous with assimilation and meeting.
It is a very common term within the scope of pedagogy, and even in this area, it can be used in very different contexts. It can refer to the introduction accompanied by a student with disabilities or learning difficulties in a class. It can also refer to a student's adaptation to their school life. A student who is well integrated into the school context (both in terms of learning and relationships with peers) will likely achieve better results. For this reason, integration is an essential issue, and often school institutions and student organizations create integration activities.
Integration can and should also occur in the professional context, being that for a newly hired employee, integration into the company is essential for him to be successful in his task. It is important to be integrated in the role performed, but also to be integrated in your team, so that you know your colleagues better. For this purpose, many companies organize events or retreats of "
team building", with the aim of strengthening ties between colleagues from the same company.Social integration
Within the scope of sociology, social integration is the process of introducing individuals or groups into larger social contexts, with more general patterns and norms. The greater the integration within a society, the greater the level of agreement among its members and the greater the social stability in the community. Despite being a positive concept, in some cases, when there is full integration, it is common to have a slowness in dynamic social processes and sometimes an inability to change and adapt to events and new phenomena.
Although some current societies do not make this distinction, it is important to point out that there are two types of integration: normative, which occurs through the incorporation of prevailing norms and values; and the functional, which occurs thanks to the mutual dependence between its various elements.

In Brazil, national integration is the responsibility of the Ministry of National Integration (MI), which was created in 1999 to manage programs and projects for regional integration, urban development, relationship with states and municipalities, irrigation and defense civil.
