Dyspnea (or dyspnea) is the difficulty breathing, a condition commonly related to heart and respiratory disease.
THE feeling short of breath is the main symptom of dyspnea, which is also often common during sleep (paroxysmal nocturnal dyspnea - PND), causing the person to wake up with a feeling of suffocation.
Other symptoms may include a heavy strain on the movement of the nostrils, which seeks to inspire as much of possible air, in addition to the lips and fingers being in shades of purple (cyanosis), due to low oxygenation of the blood.
Dyspnea should not be considered a disease, but the consequence of different factors, such as: asthma, pneumonia, tuberculosis, lung infections, lung cancer, hypertension, obesity, anemia, heart failure, among others.
dyspnea treatments
Treatments for dyspnea vary according to the nature of the disease or condition that is responsible for triggering it. If dyspnea is a consequence of pneumonia, the patient should receive antibiotics, for example.
In some more serious cases, patients have to learn to deal with constant shortness of breath, and to do this they wear oxygen masks for many hours a day.
Medical follow-up is essential in any case, and any type of medication must be indicated by a qualified professional.
