Meaning of Starvation (What it is, Concept and Definition)

starvation it is a state of extreme weakness caused by lack of food, which leads the body to consume its own tissues to get the calories needed to stay alive, degrading organs, muscles and fat body.

An adult's weight loss can exceed half their normal body weight, and children can lose even more from starvation. The liver and intestines are the most affected organs, followed by the heart and kidneys.

Starvation is manifested by extreme emaciation, with a marked reduction in muscle mass and almost total loss of body fat. The skin loses its elasticity, becoming pale, cold, thin and dry. Hair dries out and weakens, falling out easily. Total starvation can lead to death after 8 to 12 weeks.

The term "starvation" is also used in computer programming, referring to a process that never runs.
due to higher priority processes that prevent it from running. Hence the term "starvation", as the process ends up "starving to death".
