Abstractionis the action or effect of abstracting, that is, of mentally isolating an element or a property from a whole, to consider individually. From the Latin “abstracione”, which means “separation”.
Abstraction it's a state of alienation of the mind, it's staying out of one's self, it's a daydream, it's putting thought away, it's abstracting. By extension it is lack of attention, distraction and inattention.
The phrase "to abstract from" it means not taking it into consideration, not giving importance, not giving credit, not giving deference.
Abstract is everything that is not concrete or results from abstraction. It's what only exists in the idea, in the concept. It is what has a high degree of generalization, which operates only with notions.

Abstractionism is a School of Modern Painting in which shapes and colors represent nothing, describe nothing, and narrate nothing figuratively. From 1910 onwards, some Western painters renounced the representation of tangible reality. The Russian Kandinsky was the first to define a lyrical and romantic current of abstraction, projection of the inner world and the artist's imaginary vision.
Abstractionism was introduced in Brazil in the 1950s. Iberê Camargo formed a whole generation of abstract printmakers. Antônio Bandera and Cícero Dias are also pioneers.
