Pentagon is a geometric figure formed by five angles and sides. It is also the name of the headquarters of the United States Department of Defense, symbol of the US Armed Forces.
In geometry studies, pentagons (five-sided polygons) can be divided into regular and irregular. In the case of a regular pentagon, all sides and angles are of equal size, with each internal angle measuring 180°.
On the other hand, irregular pentagons are those with different sides or different sides. Remembering that, with the exception of the triangle, all polygons can be equilateral and not equiangle, and vice versa.

The Pentagon in the United States
The Pentagon (The Pentagon, in English) is the headquarters of the United States Department of Defense, considered the symbol of US national security.
The Pentagon is located in Virginia, Arlington County, Washington, DC. Currently, this is considered one of the largest office buildings in the world, with a total area of approximately 600 thousand square meters.
The Pentagon building was built during World War II, this being the main reason for its creation, and was officially opened in January 1943.
Just like the "twin towers" of the World Trade Center, the Pentagon was also targeted by September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. A plane hijacked by Islamic extremists (affiliated with al-Qaeda) crashed into the west side of the building, killing a total of 189 people.
The United States Department of Defense is called the “Pentagon” because of its structure similar to the geometric symbol.
