Hibernate is an intransitive verb in Portuguese and means a idle state or condition, vacancy or when body metabolic activity decreases drastically, causing the body to go into a state of numbness.
The act of hibernating is related to the state of hibernation, which normally happens to some animals during winter. The metabolism of hibernating animals drops sharply during the coldest season of the year, causing them to enter a state of "induced coma".
Hibernating, for many animals that inhabit cold areas of the planet, is a way of survival, since during the winter it is difficult or even impossible to get food.
