Sincere is the quality of the one whowho tells the truth, who doesn't lie.

Origin of the word sincere

In its etymology, the word sincere comes from the Latin sincerus, which means clean and pure.

But there is an explanation that associates the term sincere with the meaning of true due to a habit in Rome. Some less skilled sculptors used wax to disguise imperfections in sculptures. When the Roman Senate issued a decree that regulated that all sculptures produced in Rome should be sine wax, that is, no wax and no disguises, honestly. This is what is called popular etymology.
