Redundancy refers to some situation in which the information has already been given and that it is mentioned again at another time.
Example: "The director spoke for four hours straight what he could have said in 40 minutes."
In grammar, redundancy is linked to speech that uses different words to express the same idea or reasoning. Usually very common language vices are used, such as: climbing up, facing the front, equal halves, years ago, among others.
Example: "Roberto at this moment talks about the general panorama of the company's situation".
The word can also be replaced by synonyms such as prolixity, pleonasm, repetition. The opposite of redundancy is brevity, conciseness, objectivity.
When a person uses different expressions to refer to the same idea, we say that this person is a redundant person.

For the IT industry, redundancy is the most practical way to continue a high availability system. It maintains the perfect functioning of the system even when it has failures in one of its components or when it has a system overload.
An example of computer redundancy is when a bank's system goes down. It is used to continue the process that would have been stopped.
