À vista is an expression used in the Portuguese language to refer to everything that is in front of something or someone.
Example: “land in sight” or “She will pay in cash”.
Typically, this expression is used in the sense of immediacy of payment for something. For example, when you say that a product was paid in cash, means that the entirety of its value has been deducted at once.
Cash payments are the opposite of term payments, as the latter represents the portion of the total value of a product, making the buyer pay in fractions.
Sight, Sight or Sight
All these expressions exist in the Portuguese language and are correct, however they have completely different meanings and should be used in specific contexts.
In cash: refers to the noun “view”, relating to the eye, the visual organ or a landscape.
Example: "The view from your apartment is very beautiful.” or "Wear glasses so as not to damage your eyesight”.
In cash: refers to what is immediate or what is under someone's vision.
Example: "I bought the car in cash”.
In cash: it is the third person singular conjugation of the verb “to see”, considered a synonym of “to observe” or “to look”.
Example: "he spotted the bandits” or “Strange aircraft have been sighted”.
