Divergent is an adjective of two genders in the Portuguese language and which qualifies something or someone that differs, disagrees, opposes and get away of the other individuals who belong to your group.
The idea of divergent is related to everything that opposes it. A divergent person is one who does not fit into the context of a certain group or situation, having an opinion different from others and not easily agreeing with views outside their own.
Within linguistic studies, for example, the words that present different forms, even if they belong to the same language or originate from the same word.
"Divergent" movie
The movie “Divergent” (Divergent, in the original version) is the first in the “Divergent” series, a work by the American writer Veronica Roth.
This film was released worldwide in 2014 and tells the story of a post-war world, where, to ensure peace in humanity, the human beings were divided into five different factions, according to the main characteristic of each individual: Openness (to the honest), Friendship (for the generous), Audacity (for the brave), Scholarship (for the intelligent) and Selflessness (for the altruists).
However, the protagonist of the saga discovers in her aptitude test that she does not fit into any of the existing categories, that is, she becomes a divergent.
The “Divergente” series is followed by the books “Insurgente”, “Convergente” and “Quatro”, which are also planned to be adapted for the cinema.
