clans is a group of people united due to a certain parentage and lineage, defined by descent from a common ancestor. Tie-based kinship may be merely symbolic in nature, some clans share an ancestor. common "stipulated", which is a symbol of clan unity, and when that ancestor is not human, it is a totem animal.
In general, kinship differs from biological relationship as it also involves adoption, marriage, and other genealogical ties. Clans can more easily be described as sub-groups of tribes and generally constitute groups of 7000 to 10 000 people.
Clan comes from the Gaelic word, which means "children". Clan is an extended form of the word clann, and can be translated as "family".
There are several classifications of clans. Some are patrilineal, meaning that members are tied to the male lineage, others are matrilineal, when the members are linked to the female lineage and there are still "bilateral" clans, which are all descendants of the greater ancestor, both of the male lineage and female.
