Skol is a word derived from the languages spoken in Scandinavia and used by the Norse to make a toast. Corresponds to the Portuguese "Saúde!". In Swedish it is written “skål” and in Danish and Norwegian “skaal”, the literal meaning being "bowl, cup".
In English it is written "skol" or "skoal", but the most used word for toasting is "Cheers!". In Australia, the word “skol” is used informally in those moments when you drink something, especially beer, in a single turn of the glass, without pause.
Skol beer
Skol is the name of a well-known beer brand, owned by the Danish Carlsberg and marketed in Brazil under license from Ambev - Companhia de Bebidas das Americas. Skol was launched in Brazil in 1967. Since then it has been an innovative brand. In 1971 it launched the first canned beer (first in tin, then in aluminium). Skol was also a pioneer in bottles long neck.
