The word technology comes from the Greek "tekhne" which means "technique, art, craft" together with the suffix "logy" which means "study".
Primitive or classical technologies involve the discovery of fire, the invention of the wheel, writing, among others. Medieval technologies encompass inventions such as the mobile press, military technologies with the creation of weapons or the technologies of the great navigations that allowed maritime expansion. The technological inventions of the Industrial Revolution (18th century) caused profound changes in the production process.
From the 20th century onwards, information and communication technologies stand out through the evolution of telecommunications, the use of computers, development of the internet and also advanced technologies, which include the use of Nuclear Energy, Nanotechnology, Biotechnology, etc. Currently, the
high tech, that is, the most advanced technology is known as cutting edge technology.New technologies are the result of technological development achieved by human beings and have a fundamental role in the scope of innovation.
Advances in technology have a great impact on society. On the positive side, technology results in innovations that provide a better standard of living for Man. As negative factors, there are worrying social issues such as unemployment, due to the replacement of man by machine, or environmental pollution that requires continuous and rigorous control.
