Exemplify the rotation and translation of planets around the sun. Use a large sheet of paper or cardstock that can hang around students' necks. Name each one and if possible a picture of the planet. This way, students will be able to know the spelling and visualize the planets.
Ask one student to rotate in the middle (sun) while other students (planets) rotate as they pass through the sun. Ask students to rotate at different speeds to show that there are differences in the orbits and rotations of the planets.
Lesson 2
Make a model of the solar system: Have students draw the planets. Don't forget to ask them to name the planets.
