THE startup of education SoulCode Academy offers free course Full Stack Junior Web Programming exclusive for women. Applications can be made at the site of the company until today, 15. Classes will start on the 8th of March, International Women's Day.
The selection process consists of a test in logic and computer science, which is eliminatory, a video proposal, an online group dynamic and an interview. To participate, you just need to be a Brazilian woman over 18 years old. At the end, 30 vacancies will be filled.
Held full-time, the programming course lasts 16 weeks with approximately 700 hours of theoretical and practical classes, as well as presentation of a final project in four weeks.
“Our goal is to provide tools for women to build a career as web developers, with strong and competitive skills. We want to increase the female presence in this segment. We hope that 80% of the class leaves employed, and between 15% and 20% seek the path of entrepreneurship", says Juana Pinkalsky, co-founder, academic director and leader of inclusion and diversity at SoulCode Academy,
The class for women is the second since the launch of the course. The first group, which began on January 26, also had 30 participants, half women and half men, spread across the country.
The Full Stack Jr. course, previously offered by SoulCode Academy, had the participation of Brenda Welly, a 21-year-old professional who graduated in Marketing and dissatisfied with her career. When he heard about a colleague's experience, he felt like programming.

“Now I can dedicate myself closely: I give life to the things that are in my head and, more than that, I can share it with others. I can relate and change people's lives with what I do. In addition, the programming pays well and the course can change the reality of women and their families”, said Welly.
Diversity Report in the ICT Sector 2020, in Brazil, in August 2020, registered 319.8 thousand employed women. The number is equivalent to 37% of the total in the sector. “The market is starting to realize that it loses a lot when it excludes them from professions as a web developer. We have noticed that professionals are increasingly interested in entering the IT market”, says Valéria Soska, Vice President of Sales for SAP Concur Latin America and member of the SoulCode Advisory Board Academy.
The startup's course has sponsors such as TNT Energy Drink, which will support all classes at edtech in 2021. SoulCode Academy offers, in addition to free courses, the option of closed classes for companies, on demand, with the participation of its employees only, according to the need for technological transformation of each company.
mentoring
The mentoring model is integrated into the course, with meetings for a chat, SoulCode Talks, conducted by top executives and members of the SoulCode Academy Advisory Board. The meeting program will feature professionals from the technology market to inspire and train the students in the class. Thus, it will be led by Alessandra Bomura, CIO Latam at Logicalis, mentor of digital transformation and social impact projects, who served as CIO at GVT and Vivo.
Other participants are Eliana Cassandre, head of marketing at TNT Energy Drink, Valéria Soska, vice president of sales at SAP Concur for Latin America and member of the Advisory Board, and Carmela Borst, co-founder of SoulCode Academy and executive advisor for the marketing area of technology.
