Temperate climate in Brazil

As it is a country of continental proportions, Brazil has six types of climate. Thus, they are Equatorial, Tropical, Tropical Semi-Arid, Tropical Altitude, Tropical Coastal and Temperate.

The temperate climate, in turn, is found in the mid-latitude zones. Therefore, between the two polar circles and the two existing tropics. That is, between the Tropic of Capricorn and the Antarctic Circle and the Tropic of Cancer and the Arctic Circle.

Thus, in Brazil the zone that is located in this area is the Southern Region. More specifically in the states of Paraná, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul.

In the case of our country, it is known as Subtropical Climate. This is because it is located in the southern region of the Tropic of Capricorn, however it is known worldwide as Temperate.

This climate is characterized by the Atlantic Tropical Mass, where rains are frequent in the summers. Winters are harsh, due to the entry of polar air mass.

In general, rainfall is well distributed throughout the year, especially in summer, with high rainfall. On the other hand, in winter it is common to have “front rains”, which are formed by the contact of hot and cold air fronts.

In the Brazilian case, there is a predominance of Araucaria. This type of vegetation occurs where the relief is sedimentary-basaltic. They are known for producing pine, walnut, mate, ipe and other trees.

In addition, there is another form of vegetation that is quite common in temperate climate regions. We are talking about the Prairies. This type of vegetation is common in undulating terrain, which used to be hills, the so-called coxilhas.

The rivers present in this biome are perennial (there is always water in its bed). This is due to the good rainfall in the region throughout the year.

At prairies they are vast open plains with no trees or shrubs, just short grass. Its soil is usually fertile for growing wheat.

Due to its relief features, it is widely used by livestock. In fact, this domain is quite devastated due to agribusiness.

fruit

In general, the temperate climate in Brazil serves for the production of various fruits and vegetables that in other states of the nation its cultivation is impossible.

This is because the region has milder temperatures compared to other Brazilian regions. Therefore, it is common to grow fruits such as persimmon, peach, grape, plum, sweet cherry, apple, pear, apricot, raspberry, among others.
