What is amygdala?

Did you know that sore throats are often caused by inflammation in the tonsils? But what is amygdala?

At tonsils are two small bodies made up of lymph tissue agglomerated. They are located in the oral portion of the larynx, between the systems respiratory and digestive.

The main tonsil function is to produce cells of defense for our body, called lymphocytes, that is, they are related to the body's protection against attacks of antigens.

Each tonsil has approximately 20 crypts that can accumulate microorganisms, lymphocytes and dead cells that can cause inflammation, called tonsillitis.

Tonsillitis can be acute, sporadic infections, or chronic, recurrent infections. Both types can be mild or severe, depending on the causative antigen.

The main symptoms of tonsillitis are sore throat, fever, reddened and enlarged tonsils, which makes swallowing difficult, including the

Spittle.

In more severe cases, the individual may also have sensitivity in the lymph nodes and earaches.

In some situations, removal of the tonsils may be necessary. Experts say this does not directly affect the immune system, as the production of lymphocytes and the body's defense also occur in other organs.
