1 – Liver cirrhosis

Incurable disease, characterized by the appearance of nodules in the liver which causes the organ's functions to be compromised.

2- Alcoholic hepatitis

Pre-cirrhosis liver disease causes inflammation and degeneration of the liver. It develops in people who consume 80 g of ethyl alcohol a day for a period of five years or more. People affected by the dysfunction may experience: nausea, yellowing of the eyes and skin, fever, loss of appetite, vomiting with blood and become pale.

3 – Pancreatitis

It is an inflammation of the pancreas gland and can be classified as acute or chronic. The most common is to appear in the chronic form, when digestive enzymes attack and destroy the pancreas and neighboring tissues, causing scarring and pain.

The pancreas is responsible for the production of insulin and enzymes that aid in digestion, pancreatitis disrupts these functions.

4 -Gastritis

The consumption of alcohol, even in small amounts, irritates the stomach lining as the amount of acid in the organ increases.

This can cause constant pain in the upper abdomen, and other symptoms such as bloating, vomiting, nausea and diarrhea are present.

Drinks with lower alcohol content, such as beer and wine, increase levels of stomach acid and contribute to the condition in the same way as higher drinks.

5 - Erectile dysfunction

Alcohol has a depressant effect on the nervous system and, therefore, in excess it can lead to reduced sexual desire, premature ejaculation and erectile dysfunction. Lack of quality and quantity of sperm are also problems related to alcohol consumption.

6 – Low immunity

Alcohol makes the body more susceptible to the action of microorganisms, because it attacks the body's defense system.

7 – Anemia

Alcohol dependents usually do not have balanced meals, which creates a lack of nutrients in the body, such as folic acid. Diseases of gastric and liver origin (which cause liver dysfunction) are also caused by alcoholism and can cause anemia.

8- Alcoholic polyneuropathy

In this disease the nerves exit the spinal cord. The problem starts in the feet and progressively ascends the body, affecting the hands, arms, chest and abdomen.

The person feels tingling in the feet and legs, pain through stimuli that normally did not cause it, such as, for example, wearing clothes.

In addition, there is loss of balance and muscle atrophy. The name of the disease means "Poly" by many, "pathy" refers to disease, and "neuro" to nerves.

9 – Cardiovascular problems

Alcoholism causes increased blood pressure, cardiac arrhythmia, heart failure and chances of a stroke with sudden death.

10 - Korsafoff's dementia

The disease impairs the central and peripheral nervous system or causes symptoms such as impaired memory and learning, partial amnesia, mental confusion, loss of coordination and balance of voluntary muscle movements (ataxia), paralysis or weakness in one of the eye muscles, and damage to brain structures such as the hypothalamus and the hippocampus.

11- Cancer

Alcohol dependents are at greater risk of developing cancers of the liver, larynx, mouth, esophagus, pancreas and pharynx.
