Words with consonant clusters


O alphabet Brazilian follows the pattern adopted by the international phonetic alphabet system, which aims to represent each consonant through a single symbol. The consonants currently are: B, C, D, F, G, J, K, L, M, N, P, Q, R, S, T, V, W, X and Z.

The letters W and Y can be considered vowels according to the word in the original language, if they sound like /u/ and /v/. Furthermore, the letter Y, when expressing the sound /i/, is classified as a vowel. H is considered neither a vowel nor a consonant, but a diacritical letter. This is because of the muted sound it expresses.

That said, in this text we are going to deal with the consonant clusters, that is, the joining of two or more consonants without the intervention of a vowel. There are different types of consonant clusters, which can be pure or disjoint.

An example of a pure consonant cluster is the word book, since the VR encounter does not separate in the syllabic division (book). As an example of disjoint consonant cluster, characterized by the syllabic separation of cluster, we have
