Did Enem Digital participants benefit from an easier test?

With the sanitary measures imposed during the new pandemic coronavirus, O National High School Exam (Enem) has been split into two versions. The printed version took place on January 17th and 24th, while the digital version took place on January 31st and will have the last application on February 7th.

Thus, many candidates complained that the digital version was easier. This impression is a matter to be explained, since the federal government aims to make the And either fully digital.

Is Enem Digital easier?

The Educational Intelligence and Assessments manager at Poliedro, Fernando Santo, commented on the feeling that this version was easier. When setting up, just distribute the questions based on the degree of difficulty of each one. The subjects may be different, but the number of questions considered simple will be approximately the same in all versions of Enem”, he said.

Therefore, the question bank of the two versions was the same, but the questions were different. The difference in questions is the normal protocol to prevent some candidates from being more prepared than others.

The level of difficulty is determined by tests taken with groups of students. Thus, if many make a mistake on a certain question, it is classified as difficult.

How is Enem Digital correction done?

The correction method used is Item Response Theory (IRT), the same method used in the printed version. Through the method, the consistency of the answers is analyzed and not the number of correct answers.

Under the system, it is justified that a candidate who gets a difficult question right must be able to get an easy one right. In this way, it is considered a method anti kick.
