Horus was the Egyptian god of heaven, justice and revenge. His name actually designates mainly two deities: Horus the Elder (or Horus the Great) and Horus the Younger, son of osiris and Isis.

The Eye of Horus was a powerful amulet. It was taken as a sign of protection. It was also called the eye of Wadjet. The eyes of this deity were the sun and the moon. However, he soon became strongly associated with the sun (and with the sun god, ra) while Thoth was associated with the Moon.
An ancient myth describes a battle between Horus and Set in which Horus has his right eye gouged out and Set loses his testicles. Thoth restores the Eye of Horus, at which point he is given the name "Wadjet".
In this myth, it is specifically stated that it is the left eye of Horus that was torn out, so the myth relates with the phases of the moon, when the natural satellite appears to have been pulled out of the sky before being restored completely.
There are a number of depictions of the history of eye restoration, particularly in Greco-Roman temples. The restored eye became an emblem of the restoration of order out of chaos, thus associating it with the idea of Maat.

In one myth, Horus gave the eye to Osiris to help him rule the underworld. Osiris ate the eye and regained life. As a result, he became a symbol of life and resurrection.
The eye of Horus was believed to have healing and protective power, and was worn as a protective amulet. It has also been used as a measurement, particularly to measure ingredients in drugs and pigments. The symbol has been divided into six parts. Each piece was associated with one of the six senses.
According to later traditions, the right eye represents the sun and is therefore called the "Eye of Ra", while the left represented the moon and was known as the "eye of Horus" (although it was also associated with Thoth).

However, in many cases, it is not clear whether the left or right eye was torn out. Other myths suggest that it is Horus' right eye that has been taken out and that the myth refers to a solar eclipse in which the sun is momentarily erased from the sky.
Worship
Horus was worshiped throughout Egypt, especially in Pe, Bendet and Khem. There were many falcon gods before Horus, but he represented them all over time. He was worshiped until the end of the pre-dynastic period.
In Upper Egypt, in the city of Edfu, there was a temple to Horus. In Kom Ombo, there was another temple for Horus called the temple of Kom Ombo. The deity was also worshiped and seen as a guide to the pharaohs.
Physical appearance
Horus was considered handsome and usually appeared as a hawk or a hawk-headed man, although he sometimes appeared as a crocodile.
Sometimes he took the form of a celestial falcon. Furthermore, he normally wore the double crown to reaffirm his dominance over all of Egypt.
Purpose
Horus was the god of the sky. The pharaoh who ruled in any Egypt was always the living image of Horus. When he died, that pharaoh became Osiris, the god of the dead and father of Horus. The new pharaoh would become Horus.
His aim was to protect the pharaoh. He was a protective god who fought against evil. He represented justice and righteousness. He was known for his clashes with Seth, who killed his father Osiris. When Horus defeated Seth, he conquered his father, the throne of Osiris, and became protector.
