It is said that many years ago an Indian woman, named Naiá, fell in love with the moon (Jaci) because of its brightness. Jaci used to take the most beautiful Indian women for herself, transforming them into stars in the sky, and Naiá dreamed of this encounter.
Although the tribe warned Naiá that if she went to join Jaci she would no longer be a woman, she was in love. One night, she left home to gaze at the moon on a lake. Seeing the image of Jaci reflected in the water so close, she thought she could touch it and launched herself into the water, blinded by love.
