The seasons, therefore also spring, occur due to the tilt of the Earth relative to the Sun. We know that the Earth performs several movements, one of them is the movement of translation, the one in which the planet revolves around the Sun. This movement has the seasons of the year as one of its consequences.

Due to the Earth's inclination relative to its orbital plane, the rayssolar they focus distinctly on the two hemispheres. So, at a given moment, one hemisphere will be brighter than the other and therefore the seasons of the year will not occur simultaneously on both sides.

Spring is considered the most pleasant season of the year for some, due to its mild temperatures and to increased air humidity that are characteristic of it. The flowering, or blooming of flowers, modifies the landscape, making it more joyful and contemplative.

You animals also feature specific behaviors that season. Many tend to come out of their hibernation period. There is also a change in the behavior of pollinating animals, such as hummingbirds and bees. Due to the flowering of some species, these animals increase their activity, significantly interfering in the reproductive cycle of plants.

The activity of pollinating animals, such as hummingbirds, intensifies in spring.

spring equinox

The beginning of spring is marked by the spring equinox. The equinox represents the average position of the sun in relation to the Earth. This means that neither the Northern Hemisphere nor the Southern Hemisphere will be illuminated anymore. The sun will be shining directly on the equator line, illuminating the two hemispheres equally. The equinox occurs at two times of the year: in March is on September.

Due to this astronomical phenomenon that marks the beginning of the flower season, the days and nights have the same length throughout that season. Do you want to know more about the phenomena that mark the beginning of the seasons of the year? Read our text: solstice and equinox.

Spring in Brazil

The country, with the exception of South region, features two well-defined seasons: the dry winter and the wet summer.

The beginning of spring in the country marks some changes in terms of temperatures and rainfall. Usually with the arrival of this season, the rains start to intensify in most of the country, making the milder temperatures and increasing the air humidity, which, in winter (season before spring), is quite reduced.

Spring in Brazilian regions

The spring, despite having common features to the entire Brazilian territory, presents some specifications for each of its regions.

According to the Center for Weather Forecasting and Climate Studies, in the regions Midwest and Southeast, you pluviometric indexes become more intense and also more frequent. This is considered a milestone between the dry season (winter) and the rainy season (summer). Usually these rains are accompanied by strong winds and hail.

Especially in the Brazilian Midwest, the temperatures reach very high values, due to the intensity of solar radiation and the occurrence of days with clear skies.

THE dry season continues at Northeast region during the spring period, with the exception of the states of Bahia, Maranhão and Piauí. In this region, there is little variation in temperature during the year, and the temperature is usually high.

At South region, the issue of rainfall does not change so much, as the rainfall regime suffers little variation, therefore, it is uniform throughout the year. Despite this, when convective rains occur, even if they are short, they are quite intense.

THE North region has little variation in temperature throughout the year. During the spring, the rainfall rates increase gradually, especially between October and November.

Flower's station

Many flowers bloom in the spring period. This is due to a set of factors, such as the gradual rise in temperatures (since spring represents a transition between winter and summer), and the rain regime, which intensifies during this period. Some species stand out this season, for example:

  • Hydrangeas

  • Hibiscus

  • Violet

  • Night's Lady

  • star jasmine
