Brasil Escola provides podcasts with content from all subjects of Elementary and High School. You can listen to them directly on the website or in the Spotify, Deezer and Castbox apps. The programs last from 20 to 30 minutes and are presented by our team of teachers and journalists.
What are podcasts?
You podcasts they are audio files that are available on the internet to be listened to at any time, unlike a radio or TV program, for example. They can cover various subjects, such as music, news, sports, finance and, in the case of Brasil Escola, educational content.
The word podcast appeared in the mid-2000s and is the junction of iPod and broadcast. The iPod is a device from the Apple company released in 2001 for listening to digital music. It is the predecessor of the iPhone cell phone and, at the time, it revolutionized the music market, replacing devices that played MP3 (a digital audio format). Already broadcast, translated from English, means radio or TV broadcast (broadcasting).
Adam Curry, American presenter of Music Television (MTV) – a television station specializing in music –, had the idea of making digital files with his programs available on the internet. The novelty gained supporters, and technology journalist Dannie Gregoire, reporting on this new way of distributing audio files,
suggested three names: Audioblogging, Podcasting, GuerillaMedia. It was then that the name podcast took.Adam Curry made his invention codes available for free use by others developers, which popularized podcasts and spread the news to other audio programs that not just the iPod. Currently, the main podcast platforms are Spotify, Deezer, Apple iTunes and Google Podcasts.
How to listen to podcasts?
One of the great advantages of podcasts over radio and TV programs is the possibility of being able to subscribe to them and receive notifications when a new issue is published. On Spotify, for example, just search for Brazil School and click on follow.
You can also listen to Brasil Escola's podcasts on the website, in desktop and mobile versions, through the audio player. Podcasts can be accessed by computer, tablet, smart TVs and smartphones with Android and iOS system.
