Are there diseases that occur in both men and other animals?

Are there diseases that occur in both men and other animals? The answer to that question is yes! Various diseases can affect humans and many other organisms equally, as we share similar physiological structures and processes. See below some diseases that can occur in the same way in man and other animals:

→ Epilepsy

THE epilepsy it is a problem that causes the occurrence of several epileptic seizures, which are due to an abnormal activity of the brain. This problem is well known in human beings and also frequently reported in other living beings, such as pets. epilepsy it affects 2% to 3% of dogs, and, in cats, the incidence is 0.5%, therefore, it is of fundamental importance that this disorder is properly understood by veterinarians.

→ Diabetes

O diabetes mellitus it is a disease related to a low production or problems in the action of a hormone called insulin. It is insulin that ensures blood glucose control, as it decreases the rate of this substance by allowing its entry into the cell. In diabetes, hyperglycemia is seen, which is an increase in blood glucose.

Diabetes is not an endocrine disease unique to humans and can occur in other organisms as well. In pets, its occurrence is growing because of the increase in the number of sedentary and obese animals.

→ Cancer

O cancer it is a problem that can affect different parts of the human body as well as other living beings. This disease is characterized by a disordered multiplication of cells, which are capable of invading neighboring and even distant tissues and organs.

If not treated properly, cancer can lead to death, which is no different in other living things. Generally, treatment in other animals consists of surgery to remove the tumor, but sometimes other procedures are recommended, such as chemotherapy. This disease is serious in any living being, and is considered the leading cause of death in older dogs.

→ Flu

THE the flu it is a very common viral disease in humans. Despite being of little concern in most cases, it is an illness that deserves attention. In the United States, for example, the flu kills approximately 20,000 to 40,000 people every year.

Like the other diseases mentioned, the flu is not exclusive to humans either.. Due to this fact, many variants of the flu can arise, since the human being is often contaminated by viruses present in other animal species. The Influenza A virus, for example, is responsible for the contamination of organisms such as pigs, horses, dogs, cats and birds.

→ Pneumonia

THE pneumonia it is an inflammation of the lungs that affects many organisms, such as dogs and cats. Captive animals, such as reptiles, are often also affected by the problem. This disease, which can be caused by viruses, fungi and bacteria, needs special care, as it can cause the individual's death if not treated properly.
