Venus is a planet that makes up the solar system. It is situated in the solar system in second place among the planets from the sun.
The name of the planet in question comes from the Roman goddess Venus. The planet Venus has great resemblance to Earth, both are of the terrestrial type, in addition, they are similar in size, mass and composition.
Venus is the closest planet to Earth, it is 40.2 million kilometers away and 260 million kilometers, this variation comes from the orbit that the respective ones perform around the Sun.
The study of Venus began when the first space probe, called mariner 2, in 1962, reached the planet's surface, soon after others were sent. probes, the flow increased, even because it configured the period of the space race, so the Soviet probes named Venus and the American Mariner and Pioneer.
In 1982, other probes landed on the surface and detected copper basalt in the planet's layers.
Venus is one of the brightest stars, surpassed by the Moon, the reflected light is popularly called "Dalva star".
For a long time it was thought that Earth and Venus were twin planets, although the common features are restricted only the aspects related to size and mass, because in favorable conditions of formation and proliferation of lives they are totally distinct.
Another difference between Earth and Venus is the atmosphere, as the second's atmosphere is 92 times denser than Earth's. This is because the atmosphere is made up largely of carbon dioxide, causing a profound greenhouse effect that places the planet as the hottest among all others.
A particular curiosity of Venus is in relation to rotation and translation movements, in which a day on this planet is greater than a year.
