Measles, severe acute respiratory syndrome and smallpox: viral diseases.

Measles: It is caused by the infection of Morbillivirus, and the contagion occurs through the respiratory tract, through droplets of saliva containing the virus. Its symptoms are: fever, headache and sore throat, cough and red rash. It can cause encephalitis, and leave permanent sequelae. It is most common in children up to ten years old. Despite not having treatment, the measles vaccine it is made by triple viral, which also immunizes against mumps and rubella.

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome or SARS: first recorded in China in 2003 is caused by a Coronavirus. Starting with a high fever, it presents with flu-like symptoms, worsening in approximately one week after these manifestations. There is a serious risk of death from respiratory arrest. It is transmitted through the air or objects contaminated by the virus. It is also believed that the ingestion of water and food contaminated by the feces of sick people can also trigger the infection.

Smallpox: eradicated from the world since 1980, according to the World Health Organization, this disease is caused by Orthopoxvirus variolae. Considered extinct in nature, this virus causes flu-like symptoms and, when circulating in the bloodstream, infects skin cells, forming pus eruptions throughout the body. It was one of the biggest causes of death worldwide, for millennia, being transmitted through contact with the saliva or wounds of infected individuals, or objects contaminated by the virus.
