BMX, also called a bike cross is a race with special bikes, which appeared in the 50s, in Europe. BMX is a sport similar to motocross, only using bicycles, already adapted to do many maneuvers and races in the sand.
BMX is divided into two modalities, BMX Racing and BMX Freestyle. BMX Racing are sport competitions more focused on the racing part, where the competitor has to do the course in the shortest time. The BMX Freestyle is the competition and the modality where the individual makes different types of maneuvers, and the time he uses is not so important but the difficulty of the maneuvers is. BMX Freestyle, also called freestyle, has its own modalities, which are differentiated by location and the way they are performed.
BMX can be a professional sport, for those who participate in competitions, and many even live off the income they earn in championships. For other people, it's more of a lifestyle, where the individual can relax by doing various maneuvers, from the simplest to the most radical and risky. BMX is already among the fastest growing sports in the world, in number of participants.
