6 examples of competitive games

Competitive games are about having a winner or a winning team. They are characterized by having opponents and rules to be followed, so that at the end of the game, a winner is elected.

1 - Pique-flag or Capture the flag

For this game you will need a spacious area and two groups, with at least 5 members in each one.

Divide the area in half so that each group has its own “field”. At the end of each field, place the team flag (can be any object to represent the flag).

The objective is for some player to take the opposing group's flag and take it to their field. But, for that, he will have to pass through the entire opponent's field untouched.

If it is touched by someone from the other team, it will be stuck in the opponent's field and will only be able to leave if it is “saved” by someone from its own group.

To save someone from your team, you or someone from your group will need to enter the opponent's field, touch your teammate, and return to your field without both being touched.

Whoever manages to get the flag of the opposing team wins.

2. hit the target

This game can be done in different ways! If you don't have the “Hit the Target” equipment, no problem, we have an alternative.

This is a kind of game that can be played indoors or outdoors. But large spaces can make it even more fun.

You'll need crumpled paper balls or pairs of well-folded and tied socks. This will be used to hit the target.

To make the target, you have two options: chalk or colored tape. With chalk or masking tape, you will draw 3 circles in large, medium and small sizes respectively, as shown in the image.

Determine the value of each circle, but remember that smaller circles have a higher value because they are harder to get right.

Each player will try to hit one of the circles to accumulate the most points. Therefore, the ideal is that in a round, each participant plays 3 times or more. Points must be noted and added at the end.

Whoever accumulates the most points at the end of all rounds wins.

3. Tug of war

This is a very competitive team game and also well known. Just have a roomy area and a rope.

Divide the group in two. In this game, the ideal is to have at least 3 people in each group. Once this is done, place a mark on the ground and ask each group to hold one side of the rope, in Indian end (one behind the other).

Make sure the rope and groups are correctly divided. When everything is in order, the sides will start pulling the rope to make the first person in the row of the other group pass the mark.

The team that manages to pull the other group until it surpasses the mark that was made on the ground wins.

4 - Obstacle race

This is a type of game that can be quite challenging. You will need a large space and some objects that can be used as obstacles.

Divide the space with a starting point and an ending point. In the path to be followed, you can place obstacles such as: cones, balls in a row, hula hoops, ropes, among others.

In this type of game, there are no rules about the obstacles and what should be done with them. You can let your creativity flow and create different and safe situations for those who are playing.

Whoever manages to pass through all the obstacles according to the leader's rules, and reach the finishing point in the shortest time, wins.

5 - Treasure Hunt

This game can be played in different spaces, such as in your own home, at school, or in spaces where participants can move around.

Set aside an object that will be the treasure. If you know the people who are playing well, choose something that will please them. Chocolate, candy and toys are examples of treasure. But it's for any age group, so choose something that makes sense for the players' ages and styles.

Hide the object in a hard-to-find place. Then separate pieces of paper and write cryptic clues about where the object is.

Before writing down specifically where it's hidden, have players go through other locations in space until you find it. The important thing is that one clue leads to another (another ticket), to make the game longer and more fun.

Whoever can solve all the puzzles first and find the treasure wins.

6 - Cut!

This game must be played with a group of at least 5 or more people and a lightweight plastic ball or volleyball. Place the group in a circle, with everyone standing.

The game consists of throwing the ball in the air and all players parrying with their hands to keep the ball in the air by touching it to another player of their choice.

However, the player can decide (without speaking) whether to continue lifting the ball or whether to cut. The cut is to push the ball with the palm of the hand, in the style of the movement made by volleyball players to score points.

This cut is made to target a specific player, chosen by the person who wants to make the cut. If the ball catches this player, he must leave the circle. If you don't touch him, whoever made the cut should leave.

Whoever is the last to cut and eliminate the other player who is on the wheel wins.
