Glosa, in Brazilian literature, is a kind of poem, normally used by poets from the Northeast of Brazil, mainly singers.
Glosa is a poem with stanzas of more than ten lines, which respond to a challenge expressed in the form of a motto and is composed of two lines.
These verses are presented in the gloss in two ways: either the two verses appear at the end of the stanza to compose the rhyme, or they appear as the fourth verse of the gloss, and the other verse in the last position.
The poet Paulo Camelo created a Glosa with a migrant motto, that is, a poem with more than one stanza, where the motto appears in different positions, ascending in the stanzas from the last to the first positions.
Gloss is also known as an explanatory note about words or meaning in a text; of an interpretation or a comment.
Gloss of values
Gloss can also be related to values, as it means the suspension, withdrawal, total or partial suppression of the values described in a certain document or a budget.
