Often, women, in greater numbers, are targeted by the famous teasers or "praise". For many women, these strategies, traditionally used as a form of seduction, can be more than a simple compliment, they are even considered as sexual harassment. But to what extent can a tease be considered harassment?
Men and women disagree on several points when it comes to seduction and praise of strangers. Some men even say that many women like to be hit on and that they feel more wanted and with high self-esteem. Despite being a somewhat macho statement, some women actually feel that way, however, the vast majority have a very different opinion.
The vast majority of women say that singing, especially those on the street, make them feel like real objects. Some even fear that the verbal approach will become physical, as there are often cases of rape in the news. This is because the street sings commonly have inappropriate content, which often leaves women ashamed, in addition to, as said earlier, make them feel threatened.
In the case of ballad songs, the situation can be even more embarrassing, since most women do not know how to deal with this type of situation. There are many reports of people being called names and even assaulted for not responding to a particular approach as expected. This happens mainly due to the use of alcohol, which is frequent at parties and bars. Of course, not all men are like that, but in the face of so many cases of aggression, it's not surprising that many women are scared.
It is also worth noting that in the ballad it is easy to see when the interest is mutual. Therefore, a compliment, in these cases, is always welcome, since there is permission to flirt. When the teaser takes place without permission, it will probably not be successful.
Of course, we cannot say that every pickup line is intended to frighten the woman, make her feel embarrassed or even threaten her. Often times, the line can be a simple joke, without any malice. But we must ask some questions: Do women like this type of approach? Isn't there a nicer way to give a compliment? As teasing is considered insulting and even a form of threat by most women, why do men insist on this trick?
The theme is quite complex and divides the opinion of men and women a lot. But for you, to what extent is teasing an acceptable attitude?
Did you know that iis harassing someone, in a public place or accessible to the public, in an indecent manner a criminal offence? THE indecent harassment it is a misdemeanor with the penalty of paying a fine.
