In order not to confuse “within” and “between” any more, know that:
Among
The term “in” is formed by de + between and has an approximate meaning of “in the middle of”; it is used when the clause needs the two terms (from” and “between”) that compose it. In this way, the verbs that require the preposition “of” are able to accept the word presented. Look:
A husky voice came from the group.
The victorious is chosen from among those who persevere.
He rose from the darkness and is alive.
In between
The term "between" is used when something concerns me and another person, that is, two individuals or the whole circumstance that one wants to have the sense of placing someone's space and time or something in relation to another person or things. Look:
a) I am among the winners. (the subject “I” occupies a place among the winners).
b) The boy passed between me and the chair. (the boy occupied a place between the speaker and an object).
