O Adjunct Adjunct and Predicative are related to morphosyntax, whose main characteristic is defined by the fact that the same term, leading to account its morphological classification, perform different functions, when analyzed from the perspective of syntax (analysis syntactic).
Therefore, the article now stands out as an "actor" in this linguistic scenario the good, respected and admired adjective. Being inserted in a given linguistic context, it sometimes acts as an adjunct, sometimes as a predicative. Learn, therefore, to distinguish the difference between the two functions:
* Adjective in the predicative function:
The boy is polite.
We note that “polite”, in addition to giving a quality to the noun “garoto”, presents itself as an essential term to the prayer, given that without it the speech would become vague, meaningless.
Thus, through such assumptions, we say that it is a predicative.
Do not stop now... There's more after the advertising ;)
* Adjective in the adjunct adjunct function:
The smiling boy is late.
We found that the term “smiling” only gives more information about the “boy” subject, as the speech would become understandable if we only said that the boy is late. Therefore, we affirm that he is classified as an adnominal adjunct – representing, for now, only part of the subject, or rather, an accessory to it.
