How fast is the electrical current?
You may have already noticed that when you press a switch, the lamp, or whatever electronic component is connected, turns on almost instantly. We can't even figure out how long it takes for a light to come on as soon as we hit the switch.
As a result of applying a Electric tension, the electric current arises. She is responsible for the operation of electronic devices and is the result of movement of the electrons in some directionpreferential. So far so good! What happens is, when we press the switch, the electric field is formed in the wire at the speed of light, about 300,000 km/s. This electric field drags electrons along the length of the wire almost instantly.
This means that if we installed a light bulb at the end of a 300,000 km long wire, it would take fence in asecond to light up after press the switch.
