Gonorrhea: Cause and Symptoms. Gonorrhea: Treatment and Prevention.

Gonorrhea is also known by the names: gonorrhea, gonococcal urethritis, heat, runny, runny and drip. It is a disease caused by bacteriumNeisseria gonorrhoeae, what mainly affects the urethra, both men and women.
As it is an STD (sexually transmitted disease), unprepared sexual practice - including anal and oral - is a way of streaming. Thus, anus and pharynx can also be compromised. The probability of contamination after the relationship with a sick partner is 90%.
Babies are at risk of being infected by their mothers at the time of delivery, with eye damage.
Some women can have the disease without, however, presenting symptoms. These appear approximately ten days after contact. In these, pain in the lower abdomen, bleeding and pain when urinating may appear. In men, inflammation, discomfort when urinating and discharge with pus – characteristics similar to those that occur when there is an anal infection. Bumps in the groin area may appear.
The bacteria rarely spread through the bloodstream. This fact can trigger damage to the epidermis, joints, brain, pharynx, eyes and heart valves.

O diagnosis It is done by analyzing the patient's history and examining the secretion. O treatment it is done with the use of antibiotics, usually in a single dose. Penicillin is no longer used due to the great resistance that bacteria have acquired to it. In the case of ocular gonorrhea, called gonococcal conjunctivitis, the use of silver nitrate eye drops is added.
Many health centers distribute medications free of charge.
Sexual intercourse and alcoholic beverages should be avoided during this period and for another week after treatment. Partners of infected people should also consult in order to check for contagion.
If not treated correctly, it can cause infection of the organs of the genital system, with conditions to lead to sterility.
The use of condoms (or sexual abstinence) and prenatal care are the only ways to avoid the gonorrhea.
