Informed consent form

The informed consent form (also known by the acronym TCLE) is a used document in the context of scientific studies, with the purpose of providing information to potential volunteers in the research. The TCLE contains all the essential information so that the respondent can make an informed decision regarding their participation in the research project. If an individual decides to sign the consent form, he or she affirms their consent to participate in the study.

There are standard models of informed consent on the internet, however, it is important to mention that each survey is unique, and therefore each consent will be different. This document summarizes the protocol that will be followed during the research and is printed in two copies: one that is kept by the researcher and another that is kept by the volunteer or their legal representative.

Informed consent

Informed consent is a common practice in current medicine, which consists of a legal and moral duty of the physician and a right of the patient. Informed consent is a process in which a physician provides information to a patient regarding a possible treatment or procedure. If the patient understands the information provided and demonstrates willingness to comply with the treatment, he signs the document, thus demonstrating his consent.

If the patient considers that he does not want to undergo the treatment, he also signs the document, stating that he was informed about a possible treatment that he decided not to follow. Thus, if the doctor fulfills his duty to provide the necessary information, he will not be able to be held responsible if something happens to the patient, resulting from the treatment or lack of treatment.
