Importance of small producers in Brazil

At small and medium Brazilian rural properties size are made up of a large part of the country's farmers, generally they are rural workers who produce several crops with little technology and family labor.

Occasionally, these properties do not apply techniques, technologies and knowledge, therefore, their agricultural and agricultural production is of low productivity. This rural configuration finds itself in these conditions due to the lack of incentives on the part of the government, which does not offer credit lines with easy payment, technical support and subsidies.

Even with the adversities, these producers are responsible for a large part of the food available on the domestic market, much of the food on the Brazilian table comes from small farmers.

The food that goes to the table of thousands of Brazilians comes, in large part, from small farmers.

Despite the extreme importance exercised by these farmers, those who get incentives and facilities in obtaining credit from financial institutions for the purchase of equipment, technologies, machines are the large producers (large landowners). These have high productivity rates and, therefore, high profitability. The production of these large producers is generally monocultures destined for export and not for the domestic market.

Do not stop now... There's more after the advertising ;)

This issue is worrisome, as small and medium producers live with production difficulties, such as low productivity, low prices, high costs, etc. Such problems force the sale of properties that are generally acquired by large landowners or even companies in this field that develop precision agriculture.
The highlighted process deserves reflection, since the extinction of family farming aggravates social problems, such as unemployment, decrease the supply of food, generating, consequently, an increase in your prices. In light of the facts, the FAO (United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization) has exerted pressure on the government to provide subsidies and resources for such farmers.
