This is the last text in the series about World Cup trivia. It is even quite likely that the facts presented here are already known to you, given that only recent events will be dealt with. And the trivia about the 2010 World Cup: we'll write when the event ends!

- 1998 World Cup:

- There was a marriage between a Norwegian and a Brazilian before the match between Norway and Brazil. The couple obtained a FIFA authorization to perform the marriage at the stadium where the match would be played;

- Argentina coach at the time, Daniel Passarella, eliminated two great names in Argentine football from his national team. The reason? Long hair! Result: Caniggia and Redondo out of the team. Only Batistuta was summoned, but he still had to cut his hair.

- Sudden death was included in the FIFA rules from this edition of the championship. Overtime, interrupted as soon as the first team scored a goal, was introduced to be put into effect from the round of 16;

- The star of the English team “David Beckham” was sent off during the match against Argentina, in the round of 16. Both fans and the English press blamed the player for eliminating the team from the competition.

- 2002 World Cup:

- Refereeing was shameful in this Cup: many serious mistakes were made, damaging and disqualifying good teams. One such case was Italy: they canceled five legitimate goals, including one that would qualify them for the quarter-finals;

- It was in this championship that striker Ronaldo equaled his score in World Cups to Pelé. It was in this tournament that Ronaldo scored 12 goals;

- France, always quoted as favorites, had the worst team ever: they were eliminated in the first phase;

- Ahn Jung-Hwan, a player from the South Korean national team who played for an Italian club, was fired from his club for having scored a goal that disqualified Italy from the tournament.

- In this Cup, the fastest goal in the football world championships happened. The player Hakan Sukur, from Turkey, scored the goal in just 11 seconds, in a match against South Korea, in the dispute for third place.

- 2006 World Cup:

- If it was in the 2002 World Cup that the fastest goal of the Cups happened, it was in 2006 that the fastest goal happened. The player, Gamarra, from Paraguay, scored a goal against his team with 3 minutes of play;

- The split between the former Serbia and Montenegro, in two different states, meant that the team that played in the World Cup represented a non-existent country, as it was a unified team;

- This was the tournament with the highest number of expulsions of players from the field: 28 players received the red card;

- A serious referee error marked the championship, specifically in the match between Australia and Croatia. Croatian Josip Simunic was sent off only after his third red card. English referee Graham Poll made a mistake and the player remained on the field even after taking the second card;

- There were seven matches that ended in zero to zero: Sweden x Trinidad and Tobago, France x Switzerland, Mexico x Angola, Japan x Croatia, Argentina x Netherlands, Switzerland x Ukraine, England x Portugal.
