The biologist is a professional who works in the various fields of Biology, that is, in all areas that involve the study of life. The profession became legal after Law No. 6,684, in September 3rd 1979, has been sanctioned. This law also created the Federal Council of Biology and the Regional Councils. O Biologist's Day was instituted on exactly the same date of creation of this law.
The biologist's field of activity is quite broad and is divided into three main fields: Environment and Biodiversity, Health, Biotechnology and Production. Within these areas, biologists can work, for example, with bioethics, bioinformatics, pest control, management of biological collections, ecotourism, environmental education, water resources management, climate change, forensic expertise, environmental sanitation, genetic counseling, cytogenetic analysis, clinical analysis, animal testing, assisted human reproduction, gene therapy, development of genetically modified organisms, among many others fields.
Being a biologist is, therefore, much more than working with animals and plants. This professional studies all aspects related to life, being able to work in laboratories, zoos, forest parks, preservation areas, more bureaucratic areas, among many others. It is worth noting, however, that, regardless of the chosen area, the biologist must respect life at all its levels.
To work as a biologist, it is necessary to take a Higher Education Course and register with the Council of your region. The courses that make it possible to register as a biologist are: Bachelor's or Degree in Natural History or biological Sciences and Degrees with a degree in Biology.
Biologist Symbols
The biologist's symbol, which was published by CFBio resolution, nº 187/2009, and registered at the INPI, on May 7, 2009, shows several points that involve the routine of this professional. In this symbol, we can see four basic elements: the DNA, the sperm, the leaves and the spiral.
Analyze the basic elements of the biologist's symbol: DNA, sperm, leaves and spiral
O DNA represented in the symbol is related to life, since this is the molecule that has the necessary information to determine the characteristics of living beings. The sperm, which is fertilizing a egg, indicates the emergence of new life. The leaves, in turn, represent the photosynthetic organisms that are essential for our survival, in addition to portraying the importance of nature. Finally, we have the spiral, which is related to evolution and progress.
The biologist's color is blue and the stone is aquamarine in any of its shades.
