Language variations. Classification of language variations

protection click fraud

Taking a trip through the different Brazilian regions, we will discover that different languages guide the coexistence of speakers. This happens because of social class, age, aspects of the region, among others.

Such factors cause these variations to acquire distinct classifications, called diatopic, diastratic and diaphasic, each presenting characteristics that are unique to it. So, in order to establish familiarity with all the aspects that guide them, get to know them, therefore:

Diatopic variations

They are classified by virtue of the differences between the regions regarding the way of speaking, and such differences can occur both in relation to the semantics (relative to the meaning that the words have), as well as the syntax.

As far as vocabulary is concerned, a good example is the word “gossip”, which in some regions is known as “bergamot” and in others as “tangerine”.

Regarding the syntax aspect, we noticed that the recurrence of some syntactic terms is large, such as, for example: "I won't", instead of "I won't", "it's not", instead of "it's not", among other cases.

Diastratic variations

Diastratic variations are those variations that refer to social groups, whose factors, related to age, profession, social strata, among others, prevail in a way preponderant. As an example we can cite the language of rap groups, surfers, the language of the medical class, and even the language of the elderly and children.

Diaphasic variations

Such variations are related to the communicative context in general, that is, the situation will require the use of a different way of speaking. As an example of this we cite an informal chat and a speech given at a solemn event, for example. Another example is the writing of a written text and an everyday conversation.
