Apps to learn English

Who is looking for a really effective learning of the English language, who is committed to studying and always looking for new ways to acquire fluency in this language cannot fail to check some of the applications most accessed worldwide. We've listed six effective mobile apps or tablet for people who don't have a lot of time to devote to English classes but need to learn the language. The applications listed below vary from each other in various aspects, such as levels, methodologies, games and interaction.

TongueLeo – Learn by playing! Developed by a Russian company, this is a free application aimed at teaching English online. It covers all levels of English and lets you choose your level according to the difficulty presented. You can also play all levels and progress like an English course. There is already the application in Portuguese, which features a dictionary with audio and multimedia resources, such as music, videos and articles of all topics and levels. However, the proper thing would be to use it in English. It is available at

Duolingo – This is one of the most popular apps. Duolingo is successful all over the world because it has exercises not only in English, but in many other languages. This app has daily lesson reminders and you choose how much study time per day, but it will always remind you to study at least once each day. In Duolingo, you go up the level as you hit the questions and earn points. The cool thing about this app is that, at a certain level, you get to translate texts for the Duolingo community and share all the learning. It is available on Google Play (Android) and on App Store (iOS, iPhone).

Rosetta Stone – This is a more “serious” application, as its activities are more focused on the school environment, thus presenting tests and assessments. THE Roserra Stone is a language teaching company that provides apps for iOS and Android and focuses on language and literacy technology. This company's solutions are used by thousands of schools and businesses around the world. The most interesting thing about this app is that they created an app exclusively for Brazilians who want to travel abroad, with books, basic travel conversations and much more. Available on Google Play (Android) and on App Store (IOS, iPhone).

Speak English – This app is aimed more at those who are taking risks now to learn English. It is designed to help the beginner understand and correctly pronounce words. It's very easy to use, you just listen to the audio of an English sentence, repeat it out loud and compare the results. The app is as close as possible to how we learned our first language. Available on Google Play (Android) and on App Store (IOS, iPhone)

mindsnacks – In fact, Mindsnacks is not just an app, it's an app system. Everything is free and made for anyone who wants to learn a new language by playing! The games are designed to train participants' pronunciation, vocabulary, verb conjugations and conversation. The app has an arsenal of games to make your learning even more fun and interactive. Available on the App Store (iPhone).
