Country: what is country, concept and definition

A country is a socially, politically and geographically delimited territory, inhabited by a population with a common culture. Generally, country is a term used as a synonym for nation or homeland.

Commonly, a country is associated with a State or Government, even if a government is needed for this to happen. independent and sovereign, who governs the people and guarantees order through laws, and in most cases, following a Constitution.

The number of countries in the world is controversial information, mainly due to the difficulty, in some cases, in delimiting the territory and considering independent regions as countries.

An example of this situation is the United Kingdom, made up of four regions, England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales, which are designated by countries but do not count on the official lists.

In 2011, data from the UN (United Nations) officially marked 193 member countries. But according to other sources, the number of countries in the world could reach 196, counting the independent states.

The world population reaches 7 billion people according to data from UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund). Of the most populous countries in the world, China and India stand out, which together account for around 40% of the world's population.
