The soda is a drink that mixes dyes, preservatives, sugar, synthetic fruit aroma and carbon dioxide. It appeared in Paris in 1676, in a company that mixed water, lemon juice and sugar, a time when water mixed with carbon dioxide had not been discovered.
In 1772, experiments were carried out by Joseph Priestley, adding gas to liquids, but it was not commercialized until 1830.
The market offers many varieties of soft drinks, among the most consumed are those from the cola and guarana group, which are rich in caffeine. This has a diuretic action, stimulates the central nervous system, reducing sleep and fatigue. Cola group soft drinks have phosphoric acid in their composition, a substance that can impair calcium fixation.
Drink consumption has grown in developed countries among young people and adults and may be related to the obesity epidemic. The soda has an excessive amount of sugar, which in addition to being overweight, can cause cavities, worsen gastritis, diabetes and high levels of triglycerides.
