Vaccines that all children should take

To keep children free from disease, it is essential to take care of the food and ensure healthy living habits. In addition, it is important that the child has his or her vaccination card up to date, as the vaccines stimulate the immune system, which guarantees protection against serious illnesses.

Next, we will list the vaccines that should be taken in childhood.


→ At birth

At birth, two vaccines must be administered: aBCGand a dose of vaccine against Hepatitis B. The BCG vaccine protects against severe forms of tuberculosis, a disease caused by a bacteria (Mycobacterium tuberculosis) which primarily affects the lungs.


→ Two months

At two months of age, the first dose of vaccines is given:

  • Pentavalent: this vaccine guarantees protection against diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, hepatitis B and invasive diseases caused by Haemophilus influenzae type B;

  • VIP/VOP vaccination schedule: VIP is a vaccine formed by inactive strains of three types of poliovirus. It protects the child against polio (Infantile paralysis);

  • Pneumococcal 10 V (conjugated): this vaccine prevents diseases caused by pneumococci, such as pneumonia, meningitis and otitis;

  • Rotavirus: protects from diarrheal disease caused by rotavirus.


→ Three months

At three months, the baby receives the first dose of meningococcal C vaccine (conjugate). This vaccine protects against meningitis and meningococcemia, diseases caused by meningococcus C.


→ Four months

At four months, the second dose of vaccines is given pentavalent, VIP, 10 V pneumococcal (conjugated) and rotavirus.


→ Five months

The baby should receive the second dose of meningococcal C vaccine (conjugate).


→ Six months

At six months, the third dose of vaccines is given pentavalent and VIP.


→ Nine months

The child must receive a single dose of vaccine against yellow fever.This viral disease is transmitted by mosquito bites Aedes aegyptiin cities and by mosquitoes of the same kind Haemagogus and Sabethes in the woods.


→ Twelve months

At twelve months, the reinforcement of the 10 V pneumococcal vaccine (conjugate) and meningococcal C (conjugate). It is also applied to first dose of the triple viral, a vaccine that guarantees protection against measles, mumps and rubella.


→ Fifteen months

At fifteen months, you need to do the first Penta booster with DTP and the first VIP booster with VOP. DTP is an inactivated vaccine that is used to boost and protect against diphtheria, tetanus and whooping cough. VOP is an oral polio vaccine that is currently used in boosters. At this age, a dose of the vaccine is also administered. against Hpatitis Aand a dose of tetraviral.The tetraviral vaccine protects against varicella (chickenpox), measles, mumps and rubella.


→ Four years

When the child turns four, the second reinforcement with DTP and VOP.

After four years of age, the child will only be vaccinated in adolescence, with vaccines starting at ten years of age.
